The Institute offers Orton-Gillingham staff development programs for general education teachers and  paraprofessionals in addition to reading and special education teachers. We are known for our teacher development programs, reading workshops, inservice sessions, and curriculum development. 

Recently, Orton-Gillingham training programs for parent groups has become very popular in the U.S.  IMSE offers an Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory phonics program called "Sensational Strategies for Teaching Beginning Readers" for concerned parents to use with their children who may or may not have special needs. 

Title I funds are  targeted for training programs such as ours. We offer phonics based, highly structured, multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham  teacher development  workshops  for the general classroom teacher aimed at early interventionWe want to lower the number of children who are struggling with reading, spelling, and writing when they enter the 3rd grade Our programs are custom designed  for remediation of at risk students who have fallen behind or who have learning disabilities, dyslexia,or other obsticles preventing their learning to read.  Our Orton-Gillingham program is both a phonics based and multi-sensory.   These instructions methods can easily be added to your current reading curriculum to provide reading instruction for all early readers.

Through the University of Michigan-Dearborn Special Ed. Program the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education offers:
